ONE    BIG DAY

Of Selfless Service.

Every spring, the McNeese community unites to say "Thank You" to our neighbors, bringing together everyone from Greek life and athletic teams to individual Pokes. The Big Event is made possible by countless hours of behind-the-scenes work from our executive team, committee, and staff assistants.

That support is how we mobilize hundreds of students to complete dozens of jobs in a single day. By finding your place in The Big Event, you are helping bridge the gap between our campus and the community.

What is a Committee member?

A Committee Member is a role held by a student within The Big Event organization that allows the student to serve the Southwest Louisiana community in a larger capacity rather than simply volunteering on the day of The Big Event. Committee Members are assigned to one of the six committees within The Big Event: Development, Donor Relations, Operations, Programs, Public Relations, or Recruitment. Each of these committees is essential to the success of The Big Event.

Committee Members also oversee a small group of Staff Assistants. They supervise their staff throughout the year and ensure their safety and success, assisting them as needed. A committee member plays a key role in recruiting our Staff Assistants and Student Volunteers.
